Identity – Design – Digital – Promotion
KLC School of Design, a world renowned interior and garden design school, came to us for help with freshening up their brand identity and graphic language. Specifically, the brief was to create an identity that gave the school a modern, design-led and established look.
We took inspiration from the geometry found within interior and garden design. The new KLC identity and graphic language is based on a 45˚ axonometric grid. Axonometry, or parallel perspective being an important graphic technique used by artists, architects, and engineers.
This grid is the foundation of the bespoke graphic language we created for the KLC identity. Producing a consistent base, this allows for the patterns and shapes to be rolled out across brand collateral including brochures, stationery, magazine advertising, website and internal interior graphics.
To ensure the brand is displayed and used correctly we created a set of brand guidelines. The easy to understand rules and instructions guide the user in decisions ranging from use of the grid, through to imagery and setting typography.
The application of the axonometric grid allowed us to create natural holding devices and a range of bold, engaging collateral which helped to bring the identity to life.
To promote KLC’s courses we produced a series of information booklets. This allowed for the use of impactful imagery to be paired with sharp minimal layouts that feature overlapping forms to create engaging design-led communications.
Advertising is very important for KLC to encourage potential students to participate in open days and find out more information about studying at KLC. A series of eye-catching adverts were created to feature in publications such as Elle Decoration, House Beautiful and World of Interiors.
The interior of the studios at KLC required alignment with the rest of the brand collateral to brighten up the corridors and make it an engaging place to study. Using the grid, we produced large, bold graphics, applying a design aesthetic to the internal environments.
Website and social media
Following our style guide, KLC’s in-house team developed a responsive website that brought KLC’s online presence up to date with the identity refresh.
On joining KLC, students receive welcome packs that contain an essential tool kit for the year ahead. The tool kit was placed within a bespoke tote bag that the students could keep and reuse.
