When you work in the brand identity world, being approached by a start-up company or an entity with a new idea to put to market warrants a considered response. On the one hand, budgets are normally a lot more restricted owing to the fact that, well, this is starting from the ground up and they don’t have the trading capital a long established company will have. On the other hand, there is a massive scope for creative freedom. Not only that, but it is always such an exciting thought that you are helping to launch a product or service that could have such potential. The notion that your strategy and creative could put a company on the map, make them a household name and lead to major changes within their industry is frankly mind blowing.
Back in 2014, we were approached by a group of entrepreneurial techies based in Oslo and California. They had created a revolutionary piece of software that will completely change the way designers and developers collaborate, creating unity and consistency within a single platform. This needed the full suite of works to get it out there, so a brand strategy, an identity, and of course, a name.
When the technology was demonstrated to us, we knew straight away that we had to have this job. The potential of this idea was staggering. The opportunity to be a part of such a game changing tool was irresistible. We applied our methodology; researching and gathering insights, transforming these into a creative solution. Ultimately, Fuse was born, and Fuse were immensely pleased with the result, as were we.
And then… the waiting game. In this world, you need to be patient. Things take time to establish, for word to get around. Many decisions need to be made, and the brand strategy needs to be applied.
So when we hear fantastic news regarding one of our clients that has moved them to the next level, well it’s time to shout about it!
Way back in January 2015, Fuse secured funding to the tune of nearly €2.5 million. They told us the solid brand identity was a factor in boosting the confidence in the brand to secure an investment such as this. We of course could not be happier. To see this level of success in such a short time after the identity was rolled out is amazing.
Then, over a week back, we see this startling news. Fuse has secured a further $12 million from its investors. Wow! They are in serious territory now. This brings plans to develop the tool further and boost their own expertise by expanding their team. This shows an incredible level of confidence in what this software can offer and how far it can go. With total funding to date reported at being around the €19 million mark, it goes to show how important a proper brand strategy is, how the initial investment to create an identity is essential.
And for us? Well, we’re a modest bunch. But if this doesn’t deserve a few pats on the back, I don’t know what does. It is fantastic to be there at the start of a journey and see it blossom into something big.
